Lokkate Technologies ("Lokkate", "we", "us") provides GPS vehicle tracking and remote vehicle control to owners, fleets, and finance companies in Ghana. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
We process personal data in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). If you have questions about anything here, contact us at privacy@lokkate.com.
Your name, email address, phone number, the organisation you belong to, your role within that organisation, and an encrypted form of your password. We never store your password in readable form.
Vehicle registration number, make, model and year, and the identifiers of the tracking hardware installed in the vehicle (including its IMEI and SIM details).
This is the core of the service. From the tracker fitted to your vehicle we receive, and store:
This data is collected continuously while the tracker is powered, including outside working hours, because theft and tampering do not keep to a schedule. It comes from hardware installed in the vehicle, not from your phone. The Lokkate mobile app does not read your phone's location.
Invoices, line items, amounts, and payment status. Card and mobile money payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card number, PIN, or mobile money credentials.
When you sign in we record the IP address and browser or app identifier of the session, so you and we can spot unfamiliar access. If you enable notifications in the mobile app, we store the push token your device is issued so we can deliver alerts to it.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your location data for advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Within your own account, visibility follows the role you were given. An owner sees everything for their organisation. Managers, drivers, and viewers see less. An owner can invite and remove people, so an owner controls who else sees the vehicles.
Outside your account, we share data only with:
If you fit a Lokkate tracker to a vehicle driven by someone else, such as an employee, a driver on a work-to-own arrangement, or a rental customer, then in respect of that person you are the data controller and we act on your instructions. It is your responsibility to tell those drivers that the vehicle is tracked and to have a lawful basis for tracking them. Covert tracking of individuals is a misuse of the service and grounds for termination.
You can, at any time:
If yours is the only account on the profile, deleting it also ends the service: tracking stops and your monthly billing is cancelled. If other people are still on the account, it keeps running for them.
Two things outlive the deletion. The billing record for your vehicles stays with us, including anything still owing and the contact details we need to reach you about it, and the tracker stays in the vehicle until we take it out. Contact us to settle a balance and arrange removal.
Traffic between your device and Lokkate is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored hashed. Access to production systems is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, change your password and contact us immediately.
Lokkate is a service for vehicle owners and businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
